What did you want to do when you were young? What was your earliest ambition?

My earliest ambition was to be a scientist of some sort. That's what I had on my mind in elementary school.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I studied Human Biology and Visual Arts (Studio) at UCSD

What prompted you to do something totally different from your studies?

I started off going the pre-med route, but when I worked in the hospital setting, I realized it was something that wasn't the right fit for me. I decided to listen to my gut for once and chase my passions in art, fashion, wardrobe styling, photography, and makeup. Basically, everything that was fun!

What inspired you to create Blvckmattr ?

I wanted to create content and have a place to put it. Social media was the driving force for me to start Blvckmattr/ Blvckmattr Creative

What do you find to be the most challenging in your endeavors and what have you learned so far?

The most challenging thing is to juggle the workload. I tend to always spread myself thin when I say yes to every project.

What do you still wish to discover more of or wish to learn more about?

I want to continue to fine tune my photography and develop my own style and language for it. I also want to continue to pursue my dream of modeling in fashion on the side. I love being in front and behind the lens!

Piece of advice for people who just started dipping their toe into fashion and want to dress better?

Always "favorite" the looks that inspire you. Pinterest is a great way to start a mood board of the looks you like. Use the color, texture, and varying length combinations to see what flatters your specific body type and run with it! Don't ever be afraid to break the mold and get weird. I'm always attracted to those who are confident in their style even if their look is "weird" or unconventional.
